Position

The Residential Clinician is responsible for providing clinical care to residents and upholding best practices through clinical services, team collaboration and documentation.  The Residential Clinician will work cooperatively with the persons receiving services, all stake holders, and their interdisciplinary team to support the person's person centered plan to achieve quality outcomes.  The Residential Clinician will report directly to the Clinical Director. 

Essential Duties

This position includes, but is not limited to, the following essential functions:

  • Develop individualized recovery plans in collaboration with residents within a person-centered treatment model. Engage in timely review of recovery plans to ensure high standard of clinical care.
  • Provide direct counseling services to identified residents in support of their therapeutic goals. Develop and maintain working alliance with residents to support progress towards treatment goals. Assess needs of residents and collaborate with clients and teams to monitor necessary changes.
  • Identify and develop appropriate programming through clinical group interventions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with natural support system of residents, providing education and support and assisting in discharge planning.
  • Utilize electronic health record system to execute clinical documentation according to best practice standards. 
  • Assist in providing informal clinical education to staff.
  • Support established organization policies and procedures in the day-to-day duties of the job.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff within the organization.
  • Work positively with staff in a way that promotes development and strong staff morale.
  • Participate in organization meetings, special projects, and other related duties for the organization.
  • Support the mission of the organization with positive presentation.
  • Collaborate on system development within the organization to promote efficiencies for staff and the people we serve with a primary focus on best practices.
  • Work with appropriate community groups to develop creative programming and address needs of residents outside of the organization.
  • Apply rules, policies and procedures, regulations, and standards in a consistent, systematic manner.
  • Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships.
  • Work with team and other organizational personnel to solve issues in a consistent manner
  • Duties are performed under the direction of the Averte Clinical Director; other targeted supervision will be provided by other leaders as needed.
  • Maintain a working relationship with external treatment providers and referral sources
  • Abide by all Corporate Compliance policies and Code of Ethics.

Physical Demands

These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Residential Clinician job.  Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the described essential functions of this position. 

While performing the responsibilities of the Residential Clinician job, the employee is required to talk and hear.  The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard.  The employee is often required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, and may kneel or crouch.  Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Working Conditions

Working conditions are normal for an office or home environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.  As applicable, work may require occasional weekend or evening work and/or the availability to provide staff support in event of emergencies.  Moderate travel may be required.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Master's degree within six months of hire required in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related field. 
  • License eligibility in the state of Vermont is required; licensure strongly preferred. 
  • Experience in clinical mental health treatment, community or residential based. 
  • Working knowledge of the fundamental types of emotional, behavioral, mental health, or substance abuse issues related to the population to be served. 
  • Working knowledge of clinical interventions and willingness to continue developing clinical skills. 
  • Working knowledge of a variety of service modalities to meet the needs of the population served. 
  • Must be flexible, collaborative, open to feedback, and able to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
